No remorse from Rep. Mace.
Nancy Mace is doubling down on her testy exchange with a constituent over the weekend, saying she felt “threatened” and “harassed” after he approached her in a store to ask if she plans to host more town halls.
In a Saturday tweet that ridiculed the man, the South Carolina Republican wrote, “Some unhinged lunatic, a man, wearing daisy dukes, at a makeup store, got in my face today.” In the video, Mace yells “fuck you!” as the man walks away from her in what appears to be the skincare aisle of a department store.
On Fox News on Monday night, Mace likened the interaction to her experiences with sexual assault.
“I will tell you, I felt threatened. I felt harassed. And I will tell you, as someone who’s experienced trauma in her life — and a lot of women will understand what I’m talking abou —, when some guy gets in your face and approaches you in the aggressive manner that he did, and you feel like you’re in danger, instinctively, as women who’ve been through trauma, who’ve survived sexual assault, survived domestic abuse, you have two options: You can fight or you can flee,” Mace told “Hannity” host Sean Hannity. “And, Sean, I’m a fighter.”
